Faces of the Future was my first independent, creative project within my role as a photographer and media coordinator for XR. Having become more involved with XR Youth during the April Rebellion 2019, I wanted to create a series unique to the young people within the movement.

 

Humans of XR was already an existing theme and I was in part inspired by this, however wanted to provide a platform solely for young people as they are often overlooked within the movement. By including character profiles and quotes along with the portraits I hoped to also make it collaborative with the young people I was photographing, and allow for their individual voices to be heard. By altering the images to be in black and white I also hoped this would give them a certain amount of anonymity but in a unifying way, highlighting the mutuality and common cause of young people within this incredible movement.
